- Favorite personal finance article/post. Bridget form Money After Graduation wrote a great post this week about how debt is a problem. I especially appreciated her calculations showing how long it would take to pay off debt given a certain salary and percentage of that salary going towards debt. Sometimes debt numbers can seem so big that they almost aren’t comprehensible, but seeing that it will take 7.61 years to pay off a debt is much more concrete.
- Favorite non-personal finance article/post. I’ve been reading Elise’s blog, Enjoy It, for quite some time now and I am always entertained by what Elise has to say. Just this week, I finally started listening to her podcast, Elise Gets Crafty, and I think that I am in love. I listened to this one about creating a Pinterest strategy and it has given me tons of inspiration for how to incorporate Pinterest into my blog. (Don’t forget to follow me on Pinterest to see how my new strategy works!)
- Favorite thing I did this week. We spent a super creepy morning this week exploring the Catacombs in Paris, where you can see the bones of the nearly 6 million Parisians buried there. It was a really unique experience and one I would highly recommend if you’re in Paris. Word of advice: get there early! The line to get in is looong.
- Favorite recipe. This beautiful monochromatic fruit salad seems like a great addition to a dinner party or brunch gathering. I love that it both looks beautiful and surely is quite tasty. I’m also in love with tone on tone patterns, so the subtle color variations in these salads really appeal to me.
- Favorite quote. I love this metaphor for life from Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. It reminds me to enjoy life, not only working towards goals but having fun (and yes, spending money!) along the way.

Those fruit salads are beautiful, and an awesome choice for all the summer produce that is going crazy! I would love to try the orange/yellow salad because I just got about 5 lbs of peaches from a friend.

Oh, my gosh I love that quote!!! My sibling went to the catacombs a few months ago; they brought back one pic where the skulls are arranged in a heart! Creepy romantic? Haha. But so flipping cool. Gotta go check out those links now!

I saw the heart sculls too – very creepy! It was a very cool/unique experience though. Just make sure you don’t go with someone who will try to scare you!

Oh my goodness..six million people??? I might have to check this out if I ever make it to Paris. Definitely sounds like something worth seeing.
My favorite thing from this week was making some progress on our retaining wall. It’s not done, but it’s getting there.

I’m all over that monochromatic salad. It looks great and I have every intention of consuming in the very near future. The best part of the last week for me was having my daughter and grandsons visit … priceless!
